My current gaming-experience
That's the one, only just heard about it since I wanted to see what else was in the pipeline from them after Odin Sphere. Looks like its destined for the Wii currently, which I don't currently have unfortunately due to funds, but I guess some weapons in the game make use of the Wii remote in some way. Hopefully they still release games for the Playstation though in future.lestat666 wrote:Muramasa: The Demon Blade.... that the other game you are referring to?
Anyway nice to see someone else who has played Odin Sphere here
(Ruri_Ayanami from the old Tex Murphy ezboard).

You guys do this on 360 or PC?Fred Buer wrote:You should join me and my buddy Freepizza for a game or two. We shoot zombies like there's no tomorrow.

If on 360 I'm all for it. I can't stand playing Source based games on the PC and all the cheating that goes on. CS, etc. lost their fun fast with people running around shooting through walls and always getting head shots.
When do you live, 2002?
No, we play on the computer, buddy. I dunno if you can link up with the 360's via that system, but it works for me at least.
Can't say I've seen any cheating going on in L4D however.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!

Wow. People I know in the industry complain about it constantly. Guys spawning infected, witches, etc. in front of them. The PC is just too hackable. The 360 all you have to worry about is people taking advantage of every exploit out there. Smoker tower, moving generators, etc.
It's a problem that comes from PCs hosting the games that the 360 doesn't have.
I know Valve works hard to stop the hacks, but people just make new hacks.
The only thing the PC has over the 360 is that when the SDK comes out there will be mods available only for the PC made by the community modders. That is going to suck for 360 guys, because the only problem with Left 4 Dead is the lack of content (although we should get a new campaign shortly).
Legendary
Shoot mythical monsters in the face with bullets. It's presentation is pretty good, it's smoke effects are awful, and the running and gunning could use a bit of fine tuning. Lots of good ideas combined with lots of bad ideas.
This game was made by Spark Unlimited, and was their third game. Their previous two games were:
Call of Duty: Finest Hour, released only on consoles
Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, 360, PS3 and PC
This game was also published by Gamecock, a publishing company that's only been around since 2007. They've published amazing games such as...uhh...Hail to the Chimp, and Pirates Versus Ninjas Dodgeball. Also an MMO called Fury that I heard wasn't all that great.

Lord of the Rings: Conquest
Kill the bad guys until they die from it with swords. Play as Aragorn, kill Aragorn. It's your call. Very repetitive, very short. Lots of cheap hits.
This game was developed by Pandemic Studios
Pandemic's second game while being owned by Electronic Arts just happens to be a new one in the line of Lord of the Rings fodder the company's been putting out for several years, and I can't help but think that Lord of the Rings is to EA what Stars has been for Lucasarts. Most of both series games have been bad, so I think it fits.
This game was published by Electronic Arts
While the publishing company isn't necessarily interesting, it is interesting to point out that EA only owns the rights making games to the movies, and not the books. To me that just seems like a limited franchise, a World War 2 esque series where it's only a matter of time before Helm's Deep battles become something like Normandy Invasions or the Battle of Hoth. The kind of battle that becomes all too familiar because you've done it in every other Lord of the Rings game.

Not all the Lord of the Rings Games were bad. I personally think that The Two Towers and Return of the King Beat em up games on the ps2 were really good. They were fun.
Also, the Battle for Middle Earth Series ain't too bad either.
The rest of the Lord of the Rings games are not so good though.

I loved Lord Of The Rings: "The Third Age"... That was a good game... The Battle For Middle Earth is a good game as well...
I own all 3 of the Hack and Slash LOTR, but I haven't played them yet...

I didn't really care for the hack and slash Lord of the Rings games on the ps2 and xbox. The Third Age felt to me like it was Final Fantasy X in Lord of the Rings pants as the interface to the battle system was identical. The MMO Turbine did wasn't bad, although it helped that it was identical to World of Warcraft. I didn't mention the MMO, however, because Electronic Arts did not publish it, rather Midway did.

I know The Third Age was a lot like Final Fantasy, but I still liked it...

I forgot about the 3rd age.... that was a good game too. Although I am a huge Final Fantasy Fan, so that might explain it....
Yes... I started back in the NES days of Final Fantasy 1. Final Fantasy 6 is by far the best one storywise.
7 was the most innovative. I liked the characters of 7 too.
8 was a little too sappy for me.
I really like the retro look of 9, too.
12 is pretty innovative too.... very different but still good

I've played Final Fantasy a little... My wife is the Big FF fan though... Her favorite is the Sappy one, 8...
She was a little upset with 9, the way it kept going back in time or whatever, one minute you would be one party and then you pass a certain point and it flash backs to another party like 20 years ago or something... She just didn't like the layout...
She likes 10, but something always seems to come up in the middle of the game and by the time she gets back around to it, she can't remember most of has already happened, so she needs to restart...
We do own all the rest, but she hasn't gotten past 10 yet... And we are collectors of all of them from the NES days as well... Just amazing the graphic difference from 1 to the new ones, I can't even remember what the last number is, 12 or something with an X or what... lol

The Third Age does have one truly notable accomplishment. Ever piece of armor changed your characters appearance, even down to the ring on their finger.
