Spreading The Word On Tex...

Not sure if this really deserves a thread or not, but I couldn't really find a thread to post it in, so here it is...

I went to GameStop with a friend of mine today... He bought a Wii, but it didn't come with the Sports Disc, like it is suppose to... So we went to GameStop where he bought it to scream and yell, hoping they'd give him a Disc, well they made him call Customer Service and get one through them... They're going to send him one...

On to the real reason for the post... lol
While in GameStop I was checking out some Computer Games... Dracula Origin has been released... I didn't know that, I was asking them when it was going to be released and the guy took me over to show me... I'm gonna go back probably tomorrow and buy it... Any way, while I was BSing with the Salesman, my friend came over asking me what the game was, I broke it down for him and we all went on to talk about other games and as I was getting ready to leave, I said, "What They Really Need To Do Is Come Out With Another Tex Murphy Game." That really got the Salesman's attention... So I explained a bit to him about this site and informed him that it was possible to get those old games to run on New computers {he didn't know that}, so hopefully he will start passing along info about Tex as well... And he might end up on this site before too long...

Anyway, I just wanted to tell my little story... If anyone else has a story about Spreading Tex around, I guess we can make this the Story Thread...

Well when I first played Tex Murphy I was only about 10 years old or less. And I got a friend to join in with me, even though it wasn't a multiplayer we had fun because the story was good etc. I've told people about the series since if asked what some of my favourite games are. And the people closest to me know I like the series.

On a few occasions I have lent the games to friends who have played them and really enjoyed the style, wise-cracking and wry humor, and, of course, Tex Murphy himself.
"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
I've posted blogs on MySpace before about the series and I've actually added a Tex folder to the myphotos section so people will understand what the hell I'm talking about. I'm going to start blogging about it heavily very soon once we get more info from Aaron about the new projects and everything.

Well I´m writing classic reviews on Tex, I did the FMV feature, that contained lots of stuff about Tex, in my private life I tell people about the brilliance of the Tex games, so I´m trying to do what I can do, to give good ol´ Tex some promo.
Let's not forget the good old "Who is Tex Murphy?" idea we had a few years back...

I've only had success getting one friend to play through the Tex games over the years. At times, I've showed parts of the three games to other friends, and they would express half-hearted interest and then change the subject. I guess they just didn't get it. Oh well, to each his own.

Having "Tex PI" as a license plate on my Rav4, I get questions about it. I've even gotten a couple thumbs up on the road. (Thankfully NOT the 1 finger salute)
That is freaking awesome Jen....If I am ever driving behind you, rest assured it's not road rage that's causing the honking!!!!!

Anyway all, back to the topic at hand regarding spreading the word....check out my post on page 3 of the latest topic from AC.

We had a brainstorm a while back on how to spread the word, one of us came up with the idea of writing "Who is Tex Murphy?" on places like public bathroom stalls, streetlights, what have you. Viral marketing.

Good idea and with the existence of Myspace we can CONQUER THE WORLD!
I´m sorry i played Day of the tentacle recently.
No but seriously, maybe Myspace could add something to that idea.
I had done a Search sometime ago and I saw a Tex Murphy Myspace Page started, but it hadn't had a lot of work put into it at the time... It seemed like the person doing it was serious about it though...

As for the Tagging of Tex Murphy around town, it could work... Only problem is, those who make our living being Lawful can't exactly go around Spray Painting Tex Murphy everywhere...

How about Flyers and posting them up in Grocery Stores and other places???

I still write "Who is Tex Murphy?" on chalk boards and desks when ever I get the chance. I think its a great idea.
