A note from Nilo

I suffered a stroke on May 27, and was hospitalized for two weeks. I am now home and undergoing intensive speech, occupational and physical therapy, twice a week, at a local rehab center. The stroke affected my left arm, hand, leg and also some of the neck and throat muscles that control swallowing. I am getting better with each day – I can now use my left hand to the point where I can move all of my fingers. Also, I was using a walker, but I can now get around using a cane. The muscles that control swallowing are getting stronger, which means I could soon be back to a normal diet once again. I consider myself very fortunate to have advanced this far in such a short time. And I am very optimistic that I will make a full recovery. So, hopefully I’ll soon be back to posting and helping my fellow, Tex, friends once again.

I really miss you guys!!! :(

You're in our Thoughts and Our Prayers... It sounds like you are fighting with all your being, don't give that up...

Oh man! From worse to worser...

Yet better. You've evidently made some progress already, and I hope you continue to. Keep the good attitude-- it will be very helpful.
That is VERY scarry! Glad to hear you are on the road to recovery. Don't push yourself and do everything the doctor tells you. You are in our hearts and prayers.

Sorry to hear about the stroke, but thanks for getting in touch with us with the update Nilo.
Makes you realise just how unpredictable thing can get. But I'm sure glad to hear your are on a fast recovery! At this rate you will be fully back to normal in no time!

Take care, and be sure you enjoy that first big meal once you can go back to a normal diet! May I ask what you plan to have?

Big Old 24 oz. Steak with a big 15 oz. Lobster Tail... That's a meal worth having after you've been on a Hospital diet... Add in some Wings and a Crab Pretzel for an appetizer and that's what I had after 4 weeks of Doctor Diets when I had my Neck Surgery back in '05... Every Bite was heaven...

I certainly hope you get back to Normal Food soon Nilo, those Doctor and Hospital Diets can be a test of a person's mental state... After just a week you know you want to go crazy... I was stuck on "Clear" Foods for almost 4 weeks...

From what you say, it sounds like you are doing great though... Keep it up and like Jim said, don't push yourself too far...

A sansGUI interface is one that does not have the small features called "Windows". The term comes from the French word sans, meaning "without".

SansGUI's are more typically used in Unix-like Operating Systems. The conventional wisdom is that a GUI (Grapical User Interface) help guide the casual computer user to perform routine tasks with Point and Click simplicity. SansGUI's have acquired considerable acceptance for users accustomed to the CLI (Command Line Interface).
Nilo,
