Has anyone thought of Tex as a TV Show?

I think it could survive quite well as a TV show. It would give enough time to go into detail with all the characters and not just give us a one shot deal like a movie or new game. However who would play Tex. I nominate Chris for it personally, it'd be a good day job for a while. However realistically an established actor would probably be hired, so I nominate Ryan Styles from Who's Line is it Anyway fame. As for the rest, anyone could be anyone. I got lazy.

While Chris Jones may be a difficult pull for a television show casting, remember, this is still television. James Gandalfini wasn't really a big star before he had "The Sopranos", and Kim Catrall wasn't so well known before "Sex and the City".
But tv would be great. Tex would work out well pitched as a science fiction detective show.
Just as long as JJ Abrams doesn't get a hold of it.

I think it would make a cool addition to Sci-Fi Friday, which is dominated by StarGate and Battlestar Galactica (a personal favorite). It would be a nice mix up from the typical spaceship perception of sci-fi.
Ryan Stiles is an interesting idea--he certainly has the height, but could he pull off the more dramatic moments?

You know, I'd just like to add, yes it would be great to see a Tex Murphy TV show, but I want to let you in on a little moment a few years back when I about had a heart attack in the movie theatre.
When the first previews for Dark City were released, didn't it look just a little bit like a Tex Murphy movie? When it first comes on, the style and look of the city almost made me think Chandler Ave. And then they showed the main character wearing a trench and a fedora. I swear, for like 10 seconds, I had the most exhilarating feeling like they had went and made a Tex Murphy movie, and I knew nothing about it. That was a great feeling. Then the preview went on, and you realize it wasn't, but man for those ten seconds I was alive in ways I've never been.
Here's to hoping ...

I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.
You know what Mr. Malloy... you pretty much described (in detail) the EXACT same feeling when I saw the film, and it also happens to be one of my most favourite films of all time.Mr. Thomas Malloy wrote:You know, I'd just like to add, yes it would be great to see a Tex Murphy TV show, but I want to let you in on a little moment a few years back when I about had a heart attack in the movie theatre.

Pretty sure all Tex fans would love a TV show. And getting CJ to be tex in it would be the ideal. It was quite a while back but I seem to remember while we were all waiting after the last game that someone in Seattle had offered to make a weekly Tex Show. However I think AC repoted back on this and told us that CJ was more than happy to do all the games but was in no way looking to become an actor full time or otherwise. From what I can recall that was about what was said. Anyone else remeber this?
And just a quick shout out for Ryan Styles as Tex. Long before Whos line became an american show it was a long running show in the UK and Ryan was always one of the main reasons for watching. While he was in the UK he also did a few plays and dramatic roles which he was more than good in. Remeber, most of the funniest comedic actors tend to have some pretty good acting chops and background to back them up. One example is Robin Williams. Anyways just thought it was an interesting point to make

I love Whose Line. Ryan Stiles is amazing in it, very quick and good with expressions etc. I have only seen him in this so it's interesting to hear about his more daramtic roles too, thanks for the info Mac. I think it'd be fun, he could certainly pull of the quirky humour Tex has.
Dark City is a great film too.
A TV show would be really interesting. And of course there was all that talk of a movie that went under it seems.
A game or more audio stories is more likely I think at this point. But it's fun to think about it.

Wow, long time no post... Hello again all!
I just watched "Sin City" this past weekend while I was visiting my grandma. I think that Tex Murphy would do extremely well if it could be done in the same style as that movie. (The colour, thinking, and so forth) It's just quite tough to get an upstart on a series like this.
Don't get me wrong, I think that a full length movie would be awesome, but without the background information it would be very tough to do it real well. (In all the fans eyes)

While the art style of Sin City was fantastic creative, it fit the medium that it was based from.
Not to mention, I don't want Tex to stand up and say, "Me too!"
