Only $3000
If AC needs $12 mil for a new game and if there are about 4,000 names on our last petition (some time back), that means we each need to come up with $3K U.S., donate it to AC, make a deal to receive part of the profits (enough to recoup out investment), and we will have a new game. Your take on this rediculous idea?
"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
I would love to be in possession of $3000 (says the unemployed uni student)
I gots a webcomic! http://yetanothercomic.com
If we could get 4000 people to donate $3000 each, (and have them see a return on their investment) AND get a new Tex Murphy game to boot... Well damn...
I don't see why not.
As long as the game gets sufficient marketing. I don't mean to the silly extent of Halo 3 (what with Mountain Dew becoming Gaming Fuel or whatever) but enough that people take an interest. That WAS ostensibly one of the larger problems with the last two games.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!

I'm in.
Only 3998 to go.
I'm assuming you're in Jim.
Let me know when you reach the halfway point, then we'll tell him your "master plan".
Or a revised plan. Since there's 400 or so members of the board, why don't we split it up like that? Course that'd make it $30,000 per person. I "could" be in on that, but it'd maxx out my credit cards.
Well...you know most of the diehard 'gotta have a new Tex, and I'll personally help to make it happen' chatter really comes from the top 50-100 posters, so if we did it like that........

But seriously though, I'd put $3000 towards getting the story resolved to a sastifying ending. If we drummed up enough money so Aaron could take a year off to finish the notes, write out Polarity and Trance, shoot, I'd be all over it.
And it wouldn't take 12 mil.

I'm in as well....but, yanno...if I some how hit the powerball tonight, then I wll go ahead and pitch in about 8 million...so that would lighten the load for the rest of you guys here on the board.

Wow....what a show of support.
For my own sake, would everyone please quantify their contribution?
Are you agreeing to donate the 3g's for the game only, OR for the time for AC to finish writing the story to it's conclusion?
I'm for either, as long as I get a copy. I would sign a non-disclosure agreement to not share my copy or plot points, just in case they decided to at some point go ahead in an expanded form.

Great response, people!
Jen, I think AC would need some front money to finish the story and then the rest would go towards the game.
Yes, I'm in, although I do not have 3 G's as of the moment. Working on it though.
BTW, don't tell the little lady; she'd go bonkers.

Do they accept paypal?
Since the dollar has plummeted, US$3000 has becoming more and more feasible.
Yup, count me in.
As the in the simpsons about our currency (Brasil's Real) "Our money sure is gay!".

A very romantic and optimistic idea indeed, Jim! I'd love to...but for that sum of money, I'd near some clear proof that everyone else (and I do mean EVERYONE) is in this 100% of the way. But if this could happen that would be great. Imagine that, not only would Tex win major gaming awards, but it could technically go into the Guiness Book of Records as the world's most expensive pre-order for a PC Game.
