I've downloaded the Overseer DVD version and installed it following the instructions provided by the excellent Tex Murphy Overseer Install Guide:

The game starts and runs fine except for one problem, which is that when talking to certain people I get an MPEG2 Driver error. This happened the first time when trying speak with Delores. 90% of the scenes with her when asking about topics cannot be viewed; however the “mandatory†scenes play just fine with her. I just skipped her dialogues the first time around hoping there was a problem with just those video files.
However, I’ve played a bit further without problems until I reached CAPRICORN. Now trying to ask the girl there questions I get the same problem.
It’s the generic MPEG2 Driver error that shows up, “Unable to activate the MPEG2 driver, ensure that the correct video card is selected under the configuration windowâ€â€¦ It’s set to use DVD Express as explained in the guide, however.
Anyone have any ideas? I really want to play through this game

Just a small note,
I also used the overseer guide to install, but ended up not being able to select the mpeg player thing in the configuration file. It just wasn't there. And the game ended up playing just fine, but I do get the constant "error code does not indicate an error" message before I enter any environment.
