2 things I never tried before (price money and car crash)

Hey all!
As the subject line clearly states I have just had a day (yesterday) where I experienced 2 things that I have never experienced before. 1 very good thing and 1 very bad thing!
The good thing
I'll start with the good thing which happened during the morning. I was writing an entry to my Danish blog around 11 AM which was just an ordinary post regarding my nephew's 1st year birthday party. 15 minutes later there was a comment in the blog saying that I have won some kind of game pot and that I should write a story about that. Well, I didn't know what the guy meant but I got kinda curious anyway.
So I checked out the site and there I saw it ... the game pot had been selected, and I was the winner!
So I'm now the lucky winner of ... 13.227,33 DKK which is about 2.326 USD
I've only tried to win somewhere near a 175 USD at most, so this was quite a nice surprise!
The bad thing
On the way home from work, my brother and I had to make a stop at a gas station so that he could check the tire pressure of the tires of the car, so we stopped in the street and signaled to go to the left into the gas station. As we were about to go for the turn, we suddenly got hit REAL HARD from behind by a 4x4 truck that drove about 70-80 km/h. The entire back of my brother's car was demolished and pushed a lot. Our necks got a bit twisted by the collission but luckily we didn't get hurt. I even went to the doctor's this morning to confirm that it wasn't all that serious ... but I can still feel the pain in my neck though.
Damn, those darn 19 year old "kids" that have only had their license for about a year (they have to be 18 to get a driver's license here in DK). They think, they are such big shots, but they can't keep their eyes on the road. This guy even totalled his 2nd car now and he didn't even have insurance! I can only shake my head at that.

So as you can imagine ... I have had quite an interesting day yesterday!

Fjols is a good catalogue-name dude. Summarizes his ass but good. We have the same ones here in Norway. Damn roadwarrior-wannabes.
"Fjols" is a scandinavian equivalent of such golden nuggets as "Dipstick", "Numbskull" and "Dumbass", by the way.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Yeah, be careful. Several years ago I was rear-ended by a cement mixer truck - fortunately it was empty and moving very slow. However, I ended up with six visits to the chiropractor over the next two weeks. Nothing more serious than that for which I am very thankful.
"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
Thank you everyone for your concern. I really appreciate it.
Luckily I don't feel the whiplash anymore so I guess I got pretty lucky, but I have reported it to my insurance just in case
Fred: Thank you for the congrats. That was quite cool
And yeah - "Fjols" really says a lot about that jerk - nice thing you translated it for the others
Jim: Sorry to hear you had to go through all those visits at the chiropractor but glad to hear you're ok

I won $500 US from HP in a drawing after I bought one of their laptops. I was shocked as all heck, but called their 800 number to verify it, and a few weeks later the check came. It CAN happen.
Now, Net, I'd like to introduce you to an American custom that comes into play when a disaster like this strikes. We like to call it "a law suit". See, we sue people over here, a lot. In fact, I'd say we're better at it than most, if only because of practice. I'm sure you've already considered this, but I just wanted to encourage it. Teach that little punk a lesson, take his money, and get yourself one of those awesome 3D chess boards.

Bjyman: Well, no need to be skeptical because I have received the money. Besides - it's at Denmark's most popular television station (called TV2) that I won the money, so there's no scam about that. I even called them to verify it and they are very professional about it all, so I have no problems with them.
Andy: Congratulations on the HP-price - that's cool
... And yeah - I am more than familiar with the "law-suit" term. Especially in the States. You can sue people for all sorts of stuff and even win the case even if it's the weirdest thing you ever heard. Sometimes I can't help but laugh at all the odd law suits you have over there. A woman suing McDonalds because their coffee was too hot. I mean, come on! In Denmark people would have laughed at that and told the woman to stop crying and find something better to do than waste people's time (and money) with her nonsense. In America she wins the case and gets a lotta money. Odd world sometimes
But yeah - it would have been cool to sue his a$$ but then again - that would probably not do us any good because the justice system here in Denmark is so darn bad that I sometimes don't understand what they're doing - as if they actually encourage criminals to do criminal acts because of the low standard punishments they get. You would laugh your a$$ off if you heard what some criminals were charged with and got as punishment.

Wow, buddy, I'm glad you're still around to tell the story. Automobile accidents are the scariest thing in the world to me.
I drive like a grandmother out there, simply because I don't want to ever go through that. When I say grandmother, I mean *always* 2 to 3 miles under the speed limit. Here in America, or at least in Ohio where I live, I have come to find out that there is no such thing as a speed limit. They might as well call them Speed suggestions. NOBODY does the speed limit. Unless they see a highway patrol car ... then EVERYBODY hits their brakes. It's maddening. Truck driving, to me, was an exercise in frustration daily, because of all the stupidity on our roads.
I'm glad you're okay though. I've never won anything except for one time. I was the ninth caller and one a pair of "Our Lady Peace" concert tickets. They rocked it pretty good too.
On a side note to the McDonalds thing, you'll notice after that lawsuit, that all the coffee cups and lids read "caution: contents may be hot". Sheesh. Talk about a lesson in "duh" ... That reminds me of another disclaimer I saw once on a commercial for the board game "Guess Who" .. "Game pieces do not actually talk"

I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.
