Anything similar to Tex games?

Hey there Tex fans!

Can anyone recommend any recent games that are similar to Tex games? I know, there's nothing like a Tex game, but still... :)

Thanks!
Arsen
They are not really similar, but I am sure if you liked Tex you will also be fond of the Gabriel Knight series. Both belong to my most favourite adventure series.

Instead of a Scifi detective you play more like a mystery detective type.
The brilliant thing about all the Gabriel Knight games is that the author mixes real places and real historical facts with some of the mysteries surrounding them.

The first game takes place in New Orleans and deals with voodoo, the second in Southern Germany (Bavaria) and combines the history of Ludwig II. and Richard Wagner with some werewolf lore and the third one plays in Rennes-le-chateau, a small village in the French Pyrenees and its special treasure mystery.
The second part "The Beast Within" even consists of video sequences with live actors, so maybe you should start with this one.
Going along with the general detective theme there's also The Black Dahlia live-action game too.
The Tex Murphy series beats all the rest though since it was such a great balance of humour, action, drama etc. along with cleverly woven intrigue. But I did enjoy Black Dahlia alot too and it has pretty good atmosphere. :)

First, welcome to our community! It's always a pleasure to see new people here.

Second, besides the above, some consider The Longest Journey to be a good game, although NOT a PI game and no where near to Tex. Still, I found it quite interesting and very challenging.

If you can find it & get it to run, you should try Journeyman Project 3 & Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. Love dem games!

And I second JTOG's vote for The Longest Journey, though it's sequel, Dreamfall, is a strong change from being a true adventure game.

But I still think, that Dreamfall is a very good game. For me it was the best adventure game for the last year, even - or maybe just because - it was no traditional adventure game.

The Longest Journey is a great adventure but in almost every way totally different to Tex, so I advise to try the demo version first to find out if you would like this game:

I would definitely recommend Still Life. A nice game although there is no FMV but here you also have to test your detective abilities and find clues in order to solve various murders

Anyway - there are a lot of great adventures out there but they aren't quite in the same genre as Tex but if you're searching for other great adventure-games that doesn't necessarily have to be in the same genre as Tex, I could come up with quite a few titles for you :)

I've been playing Evidence: The Last Ritual as of late. It's not like Tex but you are solving a mystery, many puzzles, and it has FMV clips (although these are done as pieces of a documentary as you continue to solve the puzzles).

I concur on the Gabriel Knight & Journeyman Project series. My wife and I played all of them together; great way to share time with your spouse. Haven't done that in quite a while; we're just too busy, even though, once in a while, she asks if there are any new games we can play. Might look at Dreamfall if it's that good.

The one thing missing from all the other games is the humor. Tex has it in spades :)
Thank you very much, guys! I appreciate this warm welcome. :D

I'll sure give those games a try.
