Re: I DID IT!!

I don't have this option..... is this cause it is an old single core processor? Yes it is. Have you fiddled with the hardware acceleration as Fred suggested? It´s usually the best bet for older games. There is a "launcher" for Grim Fandango though (used to start the game, fixes a few issu...

Re: 20 Rules for Writing a Detective Story

If we're talking detective stories with the sole purpose of being some kind of "interactive" detective experience then I suppose I agree with him. I don't think there are many of those written these days though (that list is 80 years old after all). Now it's crime fiction with a lot of emp...

Fred Buer wrote:Yes, there is a 360 version coming, last I heard.
Latest rumor is that it wont be released until a full year after the PC version though (heard it through Gamereactor just yesterday).

Re: Aurora - The Secret Within (adventure game)

$#it, I missed that one. Serves me right for being AWOL, though it would be nice with a search function (I actually ctrl+f:ed the first page of topics, but didn't go further back).

Aurora - The Secret Within (adventure game)

A new game soon to be released. Might be worth looking into. In any case, whatever you do, don't miss the second screenshot on the right:

Re: Stop Uwe Boll!!

I don't quite understand what all the fuss is about. There's a huge number of movies released every year that are at least as bad as Uwe's productions (often times even worse). I suppose the main reason he gets all this flak is because he's using existing IP that people enjoy to some extent. Had he ...

Criminal - best comic ever (heavy on noir)

Anyone with the slightest interest in comics and a taste for hard-boiled noirish fiction has got to check out Ed Brubaker's "Criminal". The first arc titled 'Coward' reminded me at times of the movie Heat (well in graphical style at least), only harder and more noir. A teaser of Coward mad...

Re: Anyone waiting for GTA 4?

Well thank you. Yes I've been AWOL for a while. Other interests and a lot of work have kept me busy. LA Noire certainly seems very interesting, though we've only seen a prerendered trailer so far (as far as I know at least). The concept might just be even more appealing than that of Mafia II, but I ...

Re: Anyone waiting for GTA 4?

I've got it on preorder for my 360.

It's a good thing this game comes out before Mafia II though, because Mafia II looks like a dream come true. It could potentially have just about everything I want from that kind of game.

Re: Work in progress / Spontaneous writing

Personally I don't mind unanswered questions as long as they're either not essential to the plot (ie don't create plot holes) or I have enough information to think about it and form some kind of answer myself. That said I'd love to read more. Not so much because of the plot (though I wouldn't mind a...

Re: Work in progress / Spontaneous writing

That's some inspired sci-fi jargon you're sporting there. As I sci-fi fan I felt right at home, the universe never felt generic. Heck I could see myself living in Lunar City 1 working at the Caelwyn R&D Center (not anymore though  ). I'd love to read more, especially if you manage to keep...

Re: Just finished Hotel Dusk: Room 215 on DS...

That reminds me I need to finish this one, my copy has been collecting dust a long time now. Somehow I lost interest a few hours in, probably because of the wonder that is Phoenix Wright.

Of course. I just thought the resemblance was striking.

Based on what I've HEARD, I wouldn't want to see the film + narration due to two things; Harrison Ford tanked it on purpose, and it's got a cheesy, tacked-on 'happy' ending that is completely out of place with the tone of the rest of the film. Watching the original cut haven't lessened my enjoyment...

Well, unless you can find the original version on vhs, you're choices are limited to the director's cut and the final cut. I don't think they ever put the original cut on dvd. So yeah, if the only difference is special effects, go for the new one. The five disc edition of The Final Cut includes the...
