Re: All Tex Murphy Games

Don't forget the music! The MIDI in these games is part of their atmosphere. I recommend a Roland Sound Canvas (SC-55, or better, an SC-88 if you can afford it) for UKM, PD and Overseer (although I use a Yamaha XG card for Overseer) and a Roland MT-32 or CM-32L for Martian Memorandum. If you only ge...

Re: Aliens? Where?

I got an Alienware laptop about 4 years ago. About a year after I first got it, I started getting graphical glitches all over the screen from bootup - a sure sign of hardware failure. After sending the unit back for repair, it turned out the nVidia card inside was overheating. Now bear in mind this ...

Re: Midi in Overseer?

But the good news here is that I think there may be some surface to attack this issue. I’m running over some plans with some developers friends–it may be fixable.
It'll be interesting to see what they come up with.

Re: Midi in Overseer?

Been a while since I attempted running Overseer on an NT based OS. I forget, is the error/lack of MIDI input on program start, game load etc? Can you see any devices listed under the MIDI section of 'Preferences'? Just looking at this page: http://www.borg.com/~jglatt/tutr/win95.htm for clues as to ...

Re: Overseer - CD to DVD Guide

Very nice work, SansGUI. 8) I had a similar idea a few weeks ago, using the higher quality DVD version's video files and compressing them with the old smktools, then running it using the CD version's EXE on a burned data DVD. I did a similar thing last year for a 1991 mod I did for Grand Prix 2, rep...

Because he's using an old Gateway with Win95? Win95A and Win95 OSR2 releases have MS-DOS versions 7.00 and 7.10 respectively.

If it starts at the prompt, try typing WIN to get into Windows.

Jim we need more info - especially sound hardware.

Re: Want to hear something funny???

Tell me about it...

I can't log out either, no matter how hard I try. I just wander the halls of the UTM boards, pounding on the doors.

Re: Want to hear something funny???

"Sorry, this hat is not produced by Goorin Brothers, Inc. " This could also mean they don't produce this exact same hat anymore . Just like Herbert Johnson no longer makes the 'original' Indiana Jones Raiders fedora, although they offer a factory-built close approximation: http://www.todds...

Re: Question about Pandora on Vista?

Just a suggestion, Nilo, but why don't you put your website link at the bottom of your posts or in your sig? It would definitely help people - especially those who want to run Tex games through Dosbox - to find what they need.

By the way, you're certainly the expert in that area. 8)

Re: The return of that other fedora-wearing guy...

This is from the 'Classifieds' section of a newspaper in the game 'Eric The Unready'

"General interest:

I wonder who they could be referring to?

Re: I think this place could use a bit of controversy.

How about this one:

Pug's head is stuck in the water cooler tank.

Tex bashes the underside - OK, it's plastic.

Tex tosses it to the street below, it shatters - OK, it's glass.

You turn around, it's back on the dispenser - intact.
