New poll to narrow down results further, you get ONE choice!
http://bigfinishgames.com/vote-new-loca ... -part-deux

On the thread on BFG you also need to name your chosen location according to Michael's comment.

My reactions:
No pet shop nooo  .... Abandoned Buildings got voted out too. :(

Gun shop got into the top results!? :?

Still thinking on what I'll choose now but interested what others think!

I will not be involved in this vote and think this is my cue to start being sporadic.

I was really upset to see that Chelsee's Bookstore didn't make the cut... I'd really like to see her upgrade from that Plywood Newsstand... Suzanne liked the idea as well according to Facebook, when I first mentioned it on BFG Page way back...
And after seeing her lavish apartment we know she could afford to upgrade if she wanted to...

Oh well, I voted for the Rival P.I., at least something like that could make for some fun side quests, sabotage, breaking and entering to steal information the other detective may have acquired, stuff like that... I submitted the name Chandler Investigations, since we are on Chandler Avenue...

Either way the game will be stellar regardless of what they put in as far as shops go...

Well ultimately I don't think we should take these as final or anything, based on past statements:
Quote:
Regarding the new locations: these were all just fan submitted suggestions that we collected from Facebook and created a poll for. Nothing is determined yet, this is just to see what people are interested in. We just wanted some fan input and reaction to these options.

The poll is for exactly that: brainstorming. These are all fan submitted suggestions that we collected from Facebook. Nothing is determined yet, we just wanted to see what people are interested in, and to get some more participation on behalf of the fans.

I think there is always some risk in taking on fan suggestions so hopefully they will just go with whatever gives them the most inspiration to do something creative with.

I do feel it a shame though if this means the ones voted out are no longer going to be considered. There were some (just in my opinion though) that would of fit in much better in the Tex universe or offered more scope in terms of revisits etc. :?

By the way, for those with an account on the BFG site, you can view the results of the poll before voting if you log out and revisit the thread.

Well. I voted for my Mutant Mart. The rival PI is cool, but I thought with the Morlocks and all of the mutants around Chandler Av, that it would be a snug fit. Tex could get a Morlock disguise in order to explore the outlying areas safely, there could be an ear to the ground on what's going on with the Mutant population, and a new business that's more than just food. A place you could buy things useful for the game, and hopefully some witty repartee between Tex and the propertier.

Yeah nice to see your suggestion on there Jen. I think it could offer some potential with revisits and also be the kind of place we might get to see more Mutant characters as well as the shopkeeper of course.

I went with the Church of Crazy Gary, which was the only option I selected from the original poll that made it through. I don't care for a lot of the options on the list. The Mutant Mart and Tarot Shop are the only others that I think would work well among the current Chandler businesses.

Odd... I tried to create my account, and then the forum said my email was already registered. So I used the password recovery, and logged in, and my username was my real-life surname. But I didn't remember having made the account.

So I searched my emails and found one from May 2011, a year ago, saying "A site administrator at Big Finish Games has created an account for you. " But I don't remember if I ever used it, or why. I assume it has something to do with my purchase of 3 Cards to Midnight in 2009.

I changed my username to "joliet_jane" so it matches this account. And so it begins. Now I'm going to have to keep an eye on this forum and that one too. Sigh. :|

I decided to go for Mutant Mart in the end because it might be a nice place to meet more interesting Mutant characters who drop in there as well as the shopkeeper. And I guess it could have a lot of different uses than just a shop if it provides aid and other services. Could have good potential for revisits.

I like alliteration so I think Mutant Mart has a nice ring to it personally or some other alliteration.

Or it could be named with an acronym:
M.A.R.S.

Mutant Aid, Resources & Supplies
(or the S could be Services)

The "MARS" thing could also act as a reference to Martian Memorandum (still haven't played it yet but from a Wiki it says a group of Mutants formed the first colony on Mars in the Tex Murphy universe).

Originally I voted for Rusty's in the first poll but I'm still confused about that. If it's not re-opened will it still be there abandoned? If so then I'm fine with that, as I kinda like it how it is now as you can explore it more when abandoned. I tried asking via Kickstarter during the first poll, they said the poll was just out of curiosity and they had no set plans yet. So I figure I'll vote for what new business I think could be useful and just hope Rusty's will still be around in some form.

Thank you very much to everyone who voted for the Mutant Mart! I think it would be really cool if something from the UTM ended up in the OTM. Besides the 10k backers of course. Heh heh!

Remember, I believe they said there would be 3 Possible new businesses... So just because we only got One vote on this pole doesn't mean we don't like any of the other options... I think a Mutant Mart would be great, and Sai's idea for the name is quite clever as well...
I just think that if they are going to be putting in any types of Optional Side Quests that a Rival P.I. would work nicely into that and that is what I'm hoping for, lots of optional side content... Stuff that could possibly help towards your main storyline, but isn't necessarily required...

That's something I'm really enjoying with L.A. Noire, I started playing it a few weeks ago and all the side cases available are just awesome, not very long or anything, but still a fun getaway from the main storyline... I hope they decide to do something similar with the new game...

I still like the idea of Tex grabbing a copy of the Bay City Mirror and skimming the classifieds you can pick some cases that wouldn't normally come up in regular game play... Just something that might get you a few extra bucks or something... Then maybe you can enjoy a nicer lunch or something at Louie's or something like that... And having a Rival P.I. could make those side quests quite enjoyable and laughable...

I also agree with a Mutant Mart. And Sai's fantastic name!

I feel that too many of the options there (and especially the rival private investigator) mess with the Tex Murphy 'Lore' a bit too much.

its quite possible only one business would be selected by the poll & the other two to be selected by big finish that may be already incorporated in the story.
