shinobytes666, welcome to the forum! Good to see others spreading the word. Though it's likely preaching to the choir here :) I think many here (who could comfortably afford it) have donated more than $35 too. One donated $10,000

I and others have hit up all those you mentioned but we're hammering on still and good to see others like your good self doing the same! I'm now trying to find any other hidden avenues for promotion, keep on the good fight shinobytes666! I reccomend you join our Steam group too and invite any friends you have on there but even if not join anyway, a big member count will look impressive to those unfamiliar with Tex Murphy. We are up to 627 Members so far!

Just wanted to pop in and say Hi as a long term lurker around here. Long have I hoped for a continuation of the Tex Murphy saga, and I check the KS page multiple times a day to see if it's gone up at all :) I've been interested in the games ever since seeing a review of Mean Streets in a C64 mag of all things, and bought UAKM onwards the week they came out.

Tried posting a link to the KS on my facebook but not a soul commented; my friends aren't much in the way of being gamers (for shame!)

Welcome azalea_k. It's great so many old fans of Tex are finding out about the campaign and helping out. I hope we'll reach even more over the next 11 days!

Hi there! Glad to see you! :D

I also know what you mean about the difficulty in getting friends and family to back Tex. I can't even begin to explain to them about playing games on teh computar, let alone Kickstarter and this whole giving money to people so they can do stuff thing.

My sister didn't donate to a Kickstarter for one of her favorite bands, The Supertones, because she said "basically it like we have to pay for them to play somewhere  " I tried to explain to her that promoters don't want bands like that anymore and if you want to see them you have to help them. Some fan she is.

I think it can be thought of more as a preorder since you're getting the game with the money you put in. If their band Kickstarter offered a ticket to their gig as a pre-sale then I don't think its any different than when you have to buy a ticket to a show a year in advance which with some you really have to do if you want to get to see it at all.

My track has mostly been that I'd appreciate you doing a favor for me, and something I love. I can guarantee my mom, sister & friend won't play the game even though they donated. They just don't play any video games. And my husband donated because he's just a great hubby. (Although, he thinks I am insane for my donation amt.) Now I am working on my niece and her husband, because he does play video games.

I know how you two feel. I showed the beginning of UKAM to my husband. He asked why in 2042 does Tex have a FAX machine?

Oh well. He was kind enough to fed my Tex addiction without calling me crazy. So I love him very much.

So more money is coming Ted's way.

Did you tell him Tex is a man out of time born into the wrong era who loves "retro" equipment?

It's 2012 and there are still people who prefer to play records rather than grab an MP3. There'll always be people who enjoy older equipment for certain reasons.

Now that you mention it.... The Fax machine makes sense once you figure in that this is an alternate timeline where there was mass nuclear devastation and World War III.

Considering that, there really shouldn't be any modern tech in Tex's world. I've seen the BBC's 80s nuclear disaster movie Threads ( ), and by comparison, Tex's world got off easy. To have people walking around with iPhones and stuff would clash with the established situation.

We'll just assume that in Tex's universe, Steve Jobs was nuked instantly, leaving us with crap products and no innovation. Hence, Fax machines and VGA displays.

Yeah they got off easy since they still managed to get flying cars and the ability to send people up to space stations and such.

I agree, I think it makes sense since the world was devastated and in Tex's area everything is rundown, a fax machine is likely high tech there, noone else seemd to have flying cars on Chandler Avenue. But if you were to go into the New San Francisco area instead of the Old I bet there is more wealth and more high tech. Certainly should be more flying cars as the scenes from New Sanfrancisco showed a highly dense infrastructure inspired by Blade Runner and in that film it meant flying cars were more essential. There is the Electronic Shop on the old avenue, which fills a gap in the area but not everyone could probably afford it to shop there or get membership.

Haha. That's what I get for typing on the small keyboard on my smartphone. Unfortunately I cannot visit the board from my office computer.

I hope Tex forgives the typo.
