Pledge made. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that I fall into a pile of money and can up it.

Here's a bit from the RetroNick interview if you didn't manage to catch it (hopefully they port some of the things they mentioned in other interviews to the Kickstarter page, its juicy info that I think those less in the know would be keen to learn)
Quote:
Chris Jones: Initially we're talking about being out on PC and Mac. But we've had discussions wondering when we can bring other formats in such as cellphones, Ipads. We've set a minimum goal of 450,000. We're hoping we get a little more than that. The 450 would obviously be the basic but if we can get more then I think the opportunity to do the other formats would become available. Obviously if we put the product out and it does well on the formats that we're on then that would be an opportunity. But it would be nice if we could release them all at the same time, or at least closely to the same time these other formats, the cellphones and the Ipads.

RetroNick: Very nice, so you're talking about an IOS version, Windows mobile etc.?

Chris Jones: Yes.
Ha! The question I didn't mean to ask, but I'm glad we got some info from it. I wish I could figure out how to make an iPad/iPhone app. With some funny Tex quotes, vid clips. I'm fairly tech-y, but not that good.

I was thinking based on some feedback on other sites perhaps they could later add a couple more videos to the Kickstarter page that demonstrates the full spectrum of the Tex Murphy games. Two things people seem to want to see portrayed: the gameplay and the more serious side. So I was thinking to myself these two ideas.

These are some really great video ideas. I am partial to showing more of the investigative aspects, as well as showing more about the action, suspense and drama.

I've never played a single Tex Murphy game, so I'm taking a leap of faith here. While I was on the fence about this project, the pitch sold me. I'm in for $150, the main reason being that I can have all five previous games on GoG.com. Those alone are worth around $35.
I ♥ Serena for kicking in that much based on the video alone!

Yeah they're awesome. Also shows what a great idea the GOG tie in is for newcomers.

Indeed. Both your original question and the clarified one got great answers. :)

Thanks. I sent a link to to the post to Big Finish Games incase it helps at all. From my perspective I know very well the great gameplay and variety in the acting that a new Tex Murphy can offer, plus privileged to know the tidbits regarding the atmosphere and enhancements for the new game we got through here. But I'd love it if everyone else, including newcomers, can get that benefit too. :)

This set of posts was pretty amusing!

I wonder how the "murder mystery party hosted by Tex Murphy (Chris Jones)" actually works - is it a single party where you are invited to fly in, or does Chris actually fly out to potentially 10 different backers and put on a party?
Just idle wondering, as 10K is a little large for me, but still, a guy can dream :-)

@Kevin: They'll invite 30 different backers. There's a party and during the party every half an hour at last one backer is going to disappear. Who manages to survive will be able to play the game. A new way of multplayer ;).

Ooh theyve added questions and answers to the bottom of the main Kickstarter page!

Xbox would be easy (due to XNA), PS3 a bit harder. An XNA title would be very feasible but I'd argue right now its outside of the scope of the project.

Shame about no Linux though. Not for me but for all of those who were asking for it :( Hope it won't be a dealbreaker for some.

Nice, I hadn't noticed those yet! Thanks for the update.
Come on baby - $150K is just around the corner now.
So, it looks like if you want to see them filming on the studio tour, you'd have to get there by June 2013...

Some delightful lady just commented: "No updates, No backers."
They just updated the FAQ section, and it's been 1 freakin day.
Also, I don't want nor need an update every single day.
It amazes me how hyper-critical people are online.

There will likely be ways to get the games working on Linux. But it would take some work ripping CDs and changing game files so they would point to the game folders instead of the cd-rom drive. I should know cause I was doing what Good Old Games eventually did with Dosbox/Wine and such back in '08, running the games on my previous Linux system. I even posted all much my progress on here. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1658&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=linux&start=15

Still it was a ton of very frustrating work for me. Of course I wasn't THAT Linux savvy when I did it. SO yeah, there will be a way if it's ABSOLUTELY necessary. Hopefully Chris can find a way to make it work on Linux, too.

Yup, was waiting to be closer to 150K to nudge that up.
I spent 120$ more than I intended, and my wife will kill me if she finds out... but it's Tex... and it's been 14 YEARS, so yeah I want that beta damn it.

Anyway, you won't see me complaining about daily updates... especially not video ones (hint hint, nudge nudge, no green screen required, a webcam will be fine)...

It's going to be a loooooooong month...
