Hello everyone. I have discovered this future noir webseries called "The Magellan Affair." It reminded a lot of Tex Murphy and I thought I'd share it here.

Wow, it's really well done.... am watching it right now, at work, but then again business is slow these days anyway... the bourbon helps.

Welcome to the boards...

Yes that does look good... I'd like to know what their inspiration was, since like Demon said it has a Tex feel to it...

Welcome to our international community, Frenzy. Hope you visit and post often.

So, what are we talking about here? Looks like a movie rather than a game, correct? And its similarities to Tex are a bit too coincidental. I mean, bourbon drinking PI, futuristic, and they even have a Colonel! Still, it may be worthwhile checking out. Keep us posted on any updates. Thanks!

Though we associate the bourbon drinking with Tex, I do believe bourbon and whiskey was a big thing with most PIs back in the day...
Though I agree with the similarities... I would like to know the Creator's inspiration for this...

Yikes!

I'm the writer/director of "The Magellan Affair" and I gotta admit, the similarities are uncanny. I'm gonna keep from looking up any more of the game until after the last chapter is on the net. For an explanation, check out http://emeraldcityst.com/blog/?p=500.

Good to see you here at UOTM website, Pinto! Hope you become a Tex fan tho' the games are older and we are all awaiting a new release - some day. Why don't you give us a little background info on yourself and how you are involved in film noir?

Welcome to the Boards... You're work is quite good...
I echo what Jim said, I hope you become a Tex Fan...

Though the games are for older computer systems there are ways to get them to run on modern machines, so if you're interested I'm sure we could get you playing in no time...

Seeing where your creative eye lays, I think you would enjoy Tex very much...

Bafitis,

The Magellan Affair isn't at all something I've done haha. I've actually been a Tex fan for the better part of ten years and have frequently visited this messageboard. When I came across the web series I saw that the similarity was close I had to register and share with everyone here.

Also, thanks everyone for your welcoming hospitality.

No harm, no foul, but I was talking to Pinto in my previous post... I guess I should have quoted his post... My apologies for your confusion...

It's all good my new friend, it's your thread, naturally you would assume I was talking to you... As I said, I should have quoted Pinto since I was addressing him...

Heh. "someday" indeed. Real life and the time intensive aspect of CG post production are harsh mistresses. I'm certainly going to want to check out Tex Murphy once things are done though.
In terms of background, I'm a bit of a storytelling nut from Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. I've dabbled in YA modern fantasy novels and short videos (including the Firefly fanfilm, Mosquito). Outside of the fantasy/sci-fi genre, I'm a sucker for noir, whether it be way over the top like in "Sin City", or kind of out of left field like in "Brick." I'm head over heels in love with old Bogart movies and Flash Gordon serials, and saw in "The Magellan Affair" a chance to visit the worlds of both.
My madness is mostly contained at www.emeraldcityst.com.
