When Tex
returns to his office, his vid-phone is beeping. Turn on the phone,
and get the messages that are waiting. |

The first message is
from Jorge Valdez. He says he has a message for Tex that he might
think is important. He tells Tex to drop by and pick it up anytime. |
 |
|
The second message is
from Wanda Peck. She says the the information on Robert Knott's disk
has everything C.A.P.R.I.C.O.R.N. needs to bring down the Law and
Order Party. Well, that's certainly good news. |
 |
|
Now seems as good a time as any to
go get that message from Jorge Valdez. Travel to the Rank and File. |

Tex arrives at the Rank and File,
and Jorge tells him that he recieved an email from the Poisoned Pawn,
addressed to Tex. He points the way to his computer, and says that
it's still on the screen. |

THE POISONED PAWN

After reading the letter, Tex automatically
travels to the San Tomas Mission.
Following the directions from the Poisoned
Pawn, Tex arrives at the San Tomas Mission at midnight. Wary of a trap,
however, he finds a back door, and enters the mission that way.

The large freight elevator must go
up to the clock tower, but it'd be a good idea to search the ground
floor first. In fact, it's essential. There are two items in here
you'll need later on. |

The first item is located
in the red toolbox on the floor. Open the toolbox and get the penknife
inside. |

|
The second thing you
need is in amongst the swept up dirt by the door you entered through.
See that rock? Pick it up as well. |

|
Now we can go up to the
clock tower. Go over to the elevatory and push the button. Nothing
happened. There must be a seperate source of power for the elevator. |
|
Go to the shelves located
to the right of the elevator. On the shelf that's just about at eye
level, there are some boxes that look as though they've been moved
recently. Move them, and find the electrical panel hidden behind.
Open the panel door to find a large red button marked "Elevator
Power Switch." Push the button, and the elevator will be ready
to use. |

Go back to the elevator
and press the button one more time. This time, Tex will open the doors
and step inside. |
