8:00 Reservation...
 |

After decoding Slade's messages and
discovering the location of the drop point, Tex races to the Mill
Valley Post Office to get there before Slade. Inside P.O. Box 969
is a new set of coded orders, and a Law and Order I.D badge.

The scene shifts to "present
day," where Tex and Chelsee are on their way to The Golden
Pagoda for dinner.
"Tex, I'm so sorry. I got
so wrapped up in your story that I completely lost track of time."
"Well, I've been told I have
that effect on women. Some sort of hypnotic power." |
 |
| "Whatever you say, sweetie,"
Chelsee says. "But seriously, you know we really have to hurry.
It's not easy getting reservations at the Golden Pagoda." |
|
 |
"Well as you know, I take
the driving laws very seriously, so excessive speed is really out
of the question. However, I know a short cut." |
|
The story then switches back to the
past, as Tex and Sylvia are in the speeder as well.
"This isn't the way home,"
Sylvia says. "Where are you taking me?"
"I found out some information
just before I picked you up for dinner," Tex says.
"That you're falling madly
in love with me?"
Tex decides to just come out with
it: "I have reason to believe you're in the same danger
your father was."
"Why?"
"Well, I'm not sure exactly,
but I'm checking into it," Tex says. "Regardless,
I'm really nervous about your safety and I think you ought to stay
at the warehouse where your father was working."
"But nothing's happened to me,"
Sylvia says, trying to act tough, but with the nervousness clearly
showing. |
 |
 |
"Well, that doesn't mean
nothing will," Tex
says. "And besides, it reflects very poorly on me if my
clients get bumped off during a case."
"Plus I couldn't pay you
if I were dead, huh?" Sylvia says, smiling.
"Now that's a very good point."
Sylvia is silent for a moment. "You're
such a tough guy," she says. "Okay, I'll lay low
for a few days if you want me to, but only because I don't want you
to worry." |

Back in the present, Tex
and Chelsee are looking for a place to park the speeder.
 |
"Ah, there's one,"
Tex says, looking down at the ground below.
"Hydrant," Chelsee
says.
Tex leans forward and looks down
out the windshield. "There's one."
"Handicapped," Chelsee
says. "Actually I think you could make a case for that one."
"Oh, that is very funny,"
Tex says sarcastically. "Ah, right there. Right in front
of the restaurant."
"Okay."
"Told you," Tex says.
Chelsee makes a face. |
 |
| Tex swoops the speeder
down toward the ground. As he does, a floating billboard passes by,
advertising some sort of Faberge exhibit. "...the most exotic
and exquisite exhibit of the decade." |
 |
 |
|
Tex lands the speeder in front of
the restaraunt, the hatch slides open, and he and Chelsee get out.
"Tex, tell me the rest of
the story," Chelsee says.
"Well," Tex says, "clapping"
shut the hatch of the speeder, "after I took Sylvia back to
the warehouse, I decided to go over to the Law and Order party. Well,
it was after midnight so I figured nobody would be around and I could
ransack the place." |
 |
"Unfortunately,
I was wrong."
