Okay...you can breathe now.
 |
Examine Slade's briefcase. Oh great.
A combination lock. And us without a combination. Wait a sec...
When Slade was on the phone at the Big Surf Lodge, he mentioned
that he had just taken care of "number six." Then he said
six was one of his lucky numbers. What better use of your lucky
numbers than a combination! But we only know one of the numbers:
6.
But Slade had something else where
lucky numbers would come in handy. Remember? Slade had a lottery
ticket in his wallet, which we swiped.
|
 |
 |
Examine Slade's
lottery ticket again. Yep, there's the six, along with four other
numbers. There're only three dials on Slade's briefcase, so we'll
have to enter the numbers three digits at a time. |
 |
Set the dials on the
briefcase to the first three digits on the lottery ticket: 6 - 1 -
3. The green light on the lock will flash, and the dials will reset. |
 |
 |
Enter the next three
digits: 2 - 2 - 2. The green light will blink again, and, again,
the dials will reset. |
 |
 |
Finally, enter the last
three digits: 7 - 3 - 1. This time, both the green and red lights
will flash, and the briefcase will open. |
 |
 |
Examine the unlocked briefcase,
and Tex will find a coded note and a strange card with holes in it. |
 |
Examine the coded note.
Looks like specific passages from the Bible. Luckilly, we've got Slade's
Bible from the Big Surf Lodge. |
 |
 |
Combine the coded note with the Gideon's
Bible. |
 |
Examine the combined note and Bible
to decode the note. |
Each blank line in the note has a corresponding
Bible reference next to it. Each reference refers to a specific word within
each Bible passage. For example: "Job 9.25.8" refers to the
Book of Job, chapter 9, verse 25, word 8. When you click on each Book
name on the left, the indicated passage appears under the note.
"Post office box number 969."
At what post office? Maybe that's what the word chart is for.
 |
Examine that funny-looking
card with the holes in it that was in Slade's briefcase. That's a
grille, and it's used to decode a special kind of word search puzzle.
Like the one from Slade's couch. |
 |
Combine the grille with
the word chart, and examine the combination to decode the chart. |
Interspersed throughout the chart are numbers:
1 to 10. To decode the chart, you must place the grille on the chart so
that one of the holes is over a number, and the rest of the holes spell
out a word or phrase.
 |
This must be Slade's hit list. Slade
said he had "taken care of number six: Greg Call. Some of the
other names are familiar. Rona Morgan, Val Davis, and Bosworth Clark
were all people Linsky was trying to track down, evidently because
they were working on the STG project as well. Linsky's name is there,
too. Number four.
From the looks of things, Robert
Knott has hired Big Jim Slade to kill the members of the STG project...and
then some. Sylvia's name is on the list, too, along with J. Saint
Gideon...and Tex Murphy. Uh-oh. Not good news.
Also, there isn't anything in the
word chart about what post office Slade's key goes to. Then again...maybe
there is.
|
 |
Examine Slade's hit list in your inventory.
Tex will note that there was a highlighted letter in each of the names,
and that, when lined up, they spell out "Mill Valley." Slade's
key must fit box 969 at the Mill Valley Post Office. Travel there. |
