When Tex arrives at Delores Lightbody's
house, she seems pretty shaken up about her former boyfriend's death...for
the first few seconds anyway. She quickly warms up to Tex, however, and
is eager to help in any way she can. Very eager...in any
way...

After avoiding Delores' advances, ask her
about Linsky's will, which will add Linsky's life insurance and
the North Hill Clinic to your Ask About list. Ask Delores about
both of these things, and then ask about Arnold Sternwood, who was
added to your list when you asked about North Hill Clinic. Delores
says she can arrange a meeting between Tex and Sternwood. Ask about
anything else on the list you want to, and then end the conversation.
Travel back to Carl Linsky's house, where Sylvia is waiting with
a special package.

"P.I. Rule #17: Never Upset
a Client"
When Tex goes back to Linsky's house,
Sylvia is there, and she has her father's personal effects
from the police station. She hands the manila envelope to
Tex, and Tex confronts her about her father's will, the life
insurance, and his suspicions about Sylvia's true motives,
breaking P.I. Rule #17.
|
 |
 |
After Sylvia
storms out, examine the manila envelope containing her father's personal
effects. Inside you'll find a wallet, two keys, and Linsky's suicide
note. |
 |
 |
Examine Linsky's
wallet. |
 |
Examine Linsky's suicide
note. Looks like the same handwriting as in Carl's "Dear Jane"
letter to Delores. |
 |
| All the evidence
suggests that this was, in fact, Carl Linsky, and that he did commit
suicide. The question now is Why? Maybe another search of Linsky's
house will turn up something. |
 |
There's one place in Linsky's
house we haven't searched yet. That door next to the bedroom
door leads to the attic. Open it up and climb the ladder. |
Linsky's Attic
Carl Linsky's attic holds some interesting
information, and a bit of creepy forshadowing. Rummage around up here
until you find another door (turn left at the deer head; you can't miss
it) which leads into a small back room. You'll find everything in here...

 |
Once inside the back
room, turn to your left. There will be a small table with a lamp,
some books, and a tape recorder. Turn on the tape recorder for that
bit of creepy forshadowing I mentioned. In his head? What's he talking
about? |
 |
 |
Next, head over to the
filing cabinet. Open the third drawer from the top, on the right side.
Get the letter inside and examine it. Whoever this Blaine Werner guy
is, he sure held a grudge against Linsky. Maybe there is more to this
case than Tex originally thought. We'll have to see if we can't find
out who Blaine Werner is sometime. |
 |
 |
Now go to the large credenza.
Try and open it, and you'll find it to be locked. Hm...Linsky's
effects included two keys. Maybe one of them works here. Try
the Small Key, the one with the numbers "1024" on
it. Open the locked drawer, get the piece of paper inside, and
examine it. Looks like Linsky had a secret hideaway. |
 |
 |
 |
Open the rolltop desk on the other
side of the room. "Under the hood," as Tex puts it, you'll
find another sheet of paper. Get and Examine this one as well. Turns
out to be Sylvia's credit report. According to this, Sylvia isn't
very good with money. In fact, she's heavily in debt. |
A further search of this room won't provide
much of anything, so it's time to check out Linsky's warhouse.
